Southwest will add KCI flights for inauguration

Southwest Airlines will increase service to Washington from a number of cities, including Kansas City, for the inauguration of President-elect Obama.
The Dallas-based airline plans to add one nonstop departure from Kansas City International Airport to Baltimore/Washington on Jan. 20 and one nonstop departure from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Kansas City on Jan. 21.
In a release Friday, the airline said it will add 26 flights into and out of both Baltimore-Washington and Dulles International Airport between Jan. 17 and Jan. 23.
“Flights are filling up, and Southwest Airlines wants to offer our customers more service into the DC area for the inauguration celebration,” Pete McGlade, vice president of schedule planning, said in the release. “We carefully combed through our flight schedule and were able to add these flights from key cities into both Baltimore/Washington and Washington Dulles during peak travel times.”
