Louisville to host 2011 National Sports Forum

Business First of Louisville

Louisville will host the 2011 National Sports Forum, a gathering of marketing, sales, promotions and event entertainment executives for professional and collegiate sports.

The event is the largest such meeting in North America, according to a news release from the Greater Louisville Sports Commission, which represented the city in seeking to host the annual forum.

The commission will serve as the host organization of the forum, which will run from Jan. 30 through Feb. 2, 2011. Churchill Downs Inc. will host an event called the Budweiser Gala, and the Kentucky State Fair Board and Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau will co-host a delegate luncheon at the new downtown sports arena.

An NSF Trade Show will occupy 10,000 square feet in a yet-to-be-determined downtown hotel or convention space, the release said.

Commission president Diane McGraw said the value of the event is the opportunity to show off Louisville and its new arena to the nation’s sports marketing decision makers.

“It’s a great event for us,” McGraw said, “not for room nights, but for the people it’s going to attract, the chief executives of sports teams and marketing executives from major corporate sponsors. It will be a great networking opportunity for us for future business.”
