Six Flags settles with Lasitter family

Business First of Louisville

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom has reached a settlement in the lawsuit involving Kaitlyn Lasitter, a teenage girl whose feet were severed last year when a cable broke on a ride at the amusement park.

The family sued the park last year, claiming negligence, and the case was set to go to trial in 2010.

Terms of the settlement are not being disclosed, Six Flags public relations manager Carolyn McLean said, adding that the company will not comment beyond its formal statement.

In a news release, she said the settlement with the family “will provide lifetime care for Kaitlyn Lassiter.”

“We deeply regret that Kaitlyn suffered, and she remains in our thoughts and prayers. All of us at Kentucky Kingdom are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests.”
