CCC organizes volunteers to light up Downtown for the holidays

The Center City Commission is organizing Downtown decorations for the holidays.
Downtown residents and business owners are volunteering to install holiday lighting on Main Street and in Court Square.
Key members serving on the Winter Lights Committee include Jody Alford, Henry and Heather Grosvenor, Greg Price, Allan Long, Deni Reilly and Paul Volpe.
“It is wonderful to see people take such pride in Downtown that they are willing to contribute time and money to make Downtown a festive place during the holidays,” Jeff Sanford, president of the Center City Commission, said in a statement.
The Center City Commission will host a Flip-the-Switch Ceremony Friday at 5 p.m. in Court Square to show off the lights and decor.
The Funnzies will be performing and singing holiday songs. Cider and hot chocolate will be provided at the free event.
After the ceremony, judging will commence on the Downtown Storefront Decorating Contests, in which 40 Downtown businesses are competing for a $2,500 first prize.
The winner will be announced at the Memphis Holiday Parade on Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. in the South Main Arts District.
