Haleiwa among most expensive small towns in U.S.

Haleiwa has been named one of the most expensive small towns in the United States.

Businessweek and Zillow.com compiled a list of the 32 most expensive small towns in the country with populations under 10,000 and the highest median home sale prices.

Haleiwa, on the North Shore of Oahu, made the list with a median home sale price of $898,538. The town has a population of 2,226 and a median household income of $39,643, according to the report.

The most expensive small town in America is Chilmark, Mass., on Martha’s Vineyard. The median home value there is $2.2 million and it had 953 year-round residents.
