Hawaii stocks up despite poor economic reports

Hawaii stocks were mostly up on Wednesday as Wall Street closed the day up despite the federal Beige Book report that regional economies are struggling.
Hawaii stocks seeing gains:
• Hawaiian Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: HA), parent company of Hawaiian Airlines, up 3.1 percent to $4.62.
• Alexander & Baldwin (NYSE: AXB) up 1.3 percent at $24.67.
• Central Pacific Financial Corp. (NYSE: CPF) up 5.6 percent to $12.13.
• Hoku Scientific (Nasdaq: HOKU) up 1.7 percent to $2.96.
• Cyanotech Corp. (Nasdaq: CYAN) was up 1.3 percent to $1.48.
• Barnwell Industries (Amex: BRN) up 8.7 percent to $4.73.
• Maui Land & Pineapple Co. (NYSE: MLP) up slightly to $9.25.
Hawaii stocks seeing declines:
• Bank of Hawaii Corp. (NYSE: BOH) down nearly 1 percent to $40.50.
• Hawaiian Electric Industries (NYSE: HE), parent company of American Savings Bank and Hawaiian Electric Co., down 11 percent to $23.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended up 173 points at 8591, the S&P 500 was up 22 points at 870 and the Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 43 points at 1492.
