Boeing and engineers’ union reach tentative deal
Portland Business Journal
Boeing Co. and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in America (SPEEA) both say they’ve reached a tentative deal on a new four-year contract.
The tentative deal covers 21,000 white-collar workers, and union negotiators are recommending that their members approve the deal with Chicago-based Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA)
There are actually two agreements; one covers 14,000 engineers in the union’s “professional bargaining unit” and the other covers 7,000 technical workers in the union’s “technical bargaining unit.” The majority of the workers are in the Puget Sound area, but the contracts cover union members in Oregon, Utah and California.
The contracts were set to expire on Dec. 1. Terms of the deals haven’t been released.
