Boeing, engineers’ union reach agreement
Portland Business Journal
Boeing Co. said it’s reached a deal with more than 20,000 engineering and technical workers represented by the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) union.
Two four-year deals were approved, one representing 14,000 engineers and another covering 7,000 technical workers. According to the union, the new contracts provide wage hikes, benefit improvements and a union voice in outsourcing decisions.
“Passage of these contracts represents a first step in restoring the relationship between Boeing management and its engineering and technical work force,” said Ray Goforth, SPEEA executive director, in a statement.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) officials said the deal covers employees in Washington, Oregon, California and Utah.
“These agreements also enable us to remain competitive and position Boeing to continue to win new business during these challenging economic times,” said Doug Kight, Boeing vice president of human resources, in a statement.
