IDG buys Hungryminds.com

San Francisco Business Times

Foster City-based IDG Books Worldwide Inc., publishers of the "For Dummies" series of books, today announced its acquisition of online education web site Hungryminds.com.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, although the San Francisco startup was believed to be experiencing financial difficulties.

Stuart Skorman, founder of the online education site, in July reported that he was negotiating the sale of the business.

IDG Books is a majority owned subsidiary of International Data Group, publisher of such Internet and technology magazines as The Industry Standard, Info World and Darwin.
