Report: DoCoMo, KTF plan Google Android phone

San Francisco Business Times

NTT DoCoMo Inc. and KTF Co. reportedly plan to start selling a smart phone with Google Inc.'s Android software next year.

The Nikkei business daily reported on Wednesday that DoCoMo of Japan expects to price the new phone about 20 percent below existing smart phones by using Google's (NASDAQ :GOOG) free software.

It would be the first Google phone sold by Japanese and South Korean carriers. T-Mobile's Google phone, the G1, is made by HTC Corp. of Taiwan.

DoCoMo is Japan's top mobile phone carrier and owns 10 percent of South Korea-based KTF.
