Plan chosen for MetroLink extension

MetroLink will pass through Clayton at ground level along Forest Park Parkway, the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council decided unanimously. The light-rail line also will go under Skinker and Big Bend boulevards and will go around the Sunnen Business Park in Maplewood. Extending MetroLink from Forest Park to Shrewsbury through Clayton will cost an estimated $404 million. The Bi-State Development Agency will handle final design, construction and operation of the 7.5-mile extension, which is expected to be finished in 2005.
