GreenWise stores beef up promotion of "healthy" foods
Tampa Bay Business Journal
Publix Super Markets is adding kiosks in its GreenWise Markets that offer tips and recipes related to fresh foods and health-related products.
The Healthnotes Connect "Fresh Ideas" kiosks are an extension of healthy living resources Publix offers in-store and online, such as nutritional shelf-tags to highlight certain foods that are especially healthy. Publix included Healthnotes content under the "Wellness & Pharmacy" section of its Web site, www.publix.com.
Publix's first stand-alone GreenWise Market store, currently scheduled to open this fall in Palm Beach Gardens, will have Healthnotes kiosks. Additional GreenWise markets are planned to open in 2008 and 2009.
The Healthnotes library includes content on fresh foods, wines, organics, diets, supplements and medications, as well as science-based product recommendations for managing health conditions. Included is a collection of seasonal articles on popular food, lifestyle and health topics such as summer barbeque grilling tips and snacks for families on the go.
Portland, Ore.-based Healthnotes Inc. provides wellness-driven marketing programs for retailers, publishers and manufacturers.
Founded in 1930 and headquartered in Lakeland, Publix is privately owned and operated by its 143,000 employees. It recorded $21.7 billion in sales last year. Currently Publix has 907 stores in five Southern states including Florida.
