Triangle Business Journal
Carolina Power & Light announced it will build a 1,100-megawatt, natural-gas fueled power plant near Salisbury, N.C. The project will cost an estimated $250 million.
CP&L plans to open the plant on a 142-acre site in Rowan County by June 2001. The Raleigh utility plans to build the plant to meet the additional energy requirements of the N.C. Electric Membership Corp., as well as provide electricity that can be sold wholesale to other electric utilities operating in the Southeast.
