Ciresi joins Senate race

Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal - by Sam Black Staff Writer

Mike Ciresi, a Minneapolis attorney, formally announced on Wednesday his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Republican Norm Coleman.

Ciresi will be running for the Democratic nomination against at least one other high-profile candidate, Al Franken, the former Saturday Night Live comedian.

Ciresi, a partner and chairman of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, is best known for his role in a 1998 suit by the state of Minnesota against tobacco maker Philip Morris Inc. He made an unsuccessful Senate bid in 2000.
